Nyikom Ridge Tour — Western Mátra
Short but punchy loop onto Nyikom above Hasznos: a lookout on the summit, caves along the way and one of the western Mátra's finest panoramas.
We start climbing almost as soon as we leave the base: the first six and a half kilometres gain more than 500 metres, all the way up to the Nyikom summit (764 m). The Gortva–Jójárt lookout awaits at the top: the Zagyva valley below, the Muzsla massif across.
From the ridge we descend past the rock crevices and small caves of Vörös-kő-bérc (including the Szézám Cave) and the Vidróczki Cave, named after the famous outlaw, down to Mátrakeresztes — the Fakanalas Csárda inn is an unmissable stop. On the way home we roll past the hill of the Cserter castle ruins back to the base.
A short tour with a big payoff: done in half a day, yet among our sportiest loops thanks to the dense climbing — though on an ebike, anyone can play along.
